A Festive French tradition…

Galette des Rois

This week saw the last of the Christmas festivities in the Quemerais household as we celebrated Epiphany on 6th January with the traditional Galette des Rois or King cake. Epiphany marks the twelfth day after Christmas and celebrates the arrival of the three kings who travelled from afar with gifts for the new-born baby Jesus. In France it is traditional to eat the Galette – a delicious puff pastry dessert filled with frangipane almond cream – on this day.
