We spent a very enjoyable day at Herbs Unlimited in Sandhutton, Nr Thirsk last Wednesday (6 July).
Herbs Unlimited which grows traditional herbs and baby salad alongside speciality herbs and edible flowers, opened its doors for chefs and food companies to experience what they have to offer.
As we already grow most of the herbs that we use in our cooking, we were particularly interested in the edible flowers. Edible flowers can add a special finishing touch to a dish and Herbs Unlimited had a great selection which included nasturtiums, marigolds, borage, tagetes, dianthus, stocks, violas, cornflowers and blackcurrant sage flowers – to name a few.
The day was topped off with a selection of canapés by chef Stephanie Moon which used herbs and flowers grown on the farm.
It was a really interesting day which definitely gave us some food for thought…
